  • Ellen Pompeo recalls Taylor Swift video cameo and 'big ol' check' Taylor gave her for charity

L-R: 'Bad Blood' stars Zendaya, Martha Hunt, Taylor Swift, Lily Aldridge, Hailee Steinfeld, Ellen Pompeo; Kevin Mazur/BMA2015/WireImageEllen Pompeo is beloved for her role on Grey's Anatomy, but she says her kids are more impressed by the fact that she was one of the many female stars who appeared in Taylor Swift's 2015 video for "Bad Blood."Appearing on Wednesday's episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Pompeo, who had a cameo as "Luna" in the video, said, "I do get a lot of [cool] points for that ... that got me so much mileage with both of [my] girls for a stretch." Pompeo is mother to Stella, 15, and Sienna, 10, as well as son Eli, 8."Taylor is such a good girl and I didn’t know her and she invited me to be in the video and I thought, ‘Oh that'll be fun,’” she recalled. "And I went and did the video, and honestly, it was the easiest thing, it was like an hour or two.”Pompeo said that she took the opportunity to hit up Taylor for a donation to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, which is one of her favorite causes."I got up the chutzpah and asked Taylor, 'Could you write me a big ol' check for Children's?'" Pompeo told J-Hud, using the Yiddish word for "nerve." "And honestly, she knew me all but 20 minutes and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye!”Taylor inviting Pompeo to appear in the "Bad Blood" video wasn't surprising, considering that she's such a fan of Grey's Anatomy that she named her cat Meredith Grey, after Pompeo's character on the show. She also had Mariska Hargitay, whose Law & Order character inspired the name of her cat Olivia Benson, cameo in the clip, along with Selena Gomez, Hailee Steinfeld, Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba and other stars.Copyright © 2025, ABC Audio. • We'll read it for a thousand years: Christina Perri turns 'Twilight' hit into a children's book

Viking Books for Young ReadersChristina Perri has turned her Twilight soundtrack hit "A Thousand Years" into a children's book. The mother of two says it's the next step in the journey of the song, which has followed her and her fans as they've gone from being Twihards to parents."When I first wrote it, I was also in my Twilight era. Then everyone started getting married to [the song], and then I also got married," Christina tells ABC Audio. "Then everyone starting having babies, and I started having babies. ... So when we thought about a book, I was like, 'Absolutely.'""It makes so much sense because I, too, am reading picture books to my kids at night. Like, it couldn't be more appropriate or authentic to where I'm at in my life."But Christina found a few lyrical changes were necessary."I immediately thought, 'You can't say "I have died every day/ waiting for you" to a little tiny child,'" she explains. "I wrote, 'I have spent every day/ waiting for you.' ... It was a no-brainer for me to change some of the lyrics so that it was more delicate and more gentle."Christina's eldest daughter, Carmella, now 7, is depicted in the book as a toddler, which she was when Christina and illustrator Joy Hwang Ruiz started working on the book. "Carmella reads now, so she reads it to me," marvels Christina. "She reads to [her sister] Pixie. ... I can't even believe the little girl in the book is now 7 and reading it to me. Like, it's wild!"And there may be more books on the way, too."I absolutely loved this process and I have more ideas up my sleeve," she says. "I would really love to stay in this kid space for a bit."Copyright © 2025, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.

  • Report: Joe Jonas stepped into 'SNL' sketch after Morgan Wallen said no

Holland Rainwater/NBC via Getty ImagesIf you were wondering why Joe Jonas randomly appeared in a skit on the March 29 episode of Saturday Night Live, it's because he was apparently a last-minute replacement for the show's musical guest, Morgan Wallen.People says it's confirmed a Page Six report that Joe stepped in for the pre-filmed sketch, "Big Dumb Line," because Morgan didn't want to do it. Instead, it was Joe singing about how New Yorkers are eager to stand in line for hours to try viral foods like cronuts. “Believe in yourself, believe in the line/ You deserve this viral Greek yogurt or to try Lisa Rinna’s wine," Joe sings. "So don’t give up/ the rewards will be splendid/ did Amelia Earhart give up?/ I’m not sure how that ended.”Morgan performed two songs from his upcoming album, I'm the Problem, during his appearance on the show.A rep for Morgan didn't immediately return ABC Audio's request for comment.Copyright © 2025, ABC Audio. • The Weeknd gives surprise Vegas performance to promote new film 'Hurry Up Tomorrow;' watch new trailer now

LionsgateThe Weeknd performed in Las Vegas on Tuesday — not as part of a residency or headlining show, but in front of a bunch of movie theater owners. The occasion was the annual CinemaCon, where The Weeknd made an appearance to promote his new movie, Hurry Up Tomorrow.Deadline reports the singer, who is billed under his birth name Abel Tesfaye in the film, performed new songs "Cry for Me” and “Open Hearts," as well as "Blinding Lights," before a second trailer was unveiled.According to Variety, Weeknd was especially excited to see one movie icon in the audience. “I can’t believe I’m looking at Mark Hamill right now, that’s crazy,” he screamed. He reportedly told the Star Wars legend, “The force is with you, brother.”According to Deadline, director Trey Edward Schults told the attendees that the movie, in theaters May 16, is "hard to describe ... I haven’t seen a movie quiet like it. It’s very soulful.” Weeknd's co-star Jenna Ortega added, "It feels more like an experience. And when you go into it with that mentality, it makes sense.”According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ortega further explained that her character, Annie, is short for "anima," which she referred to as "the feminine part" of Abel's character's brain. She said their interactions in the trailer are "conversations that he’s been neglecting with himself.”Copyright © 2025, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.

  • Neil Young worried he may be barred from the US for talking about Donald Trump

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagicNeil Young is worried he may not be able to tour America as planned due to his feelings about President Donald Trump. The rocker writes on his Neil Young Archives website that he’s concerned he’ll be barred from reentering the U.S. if he chooses to speak out against the president during his upcoming European tour.“If I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket,” Young writes. “That is happening all the time now. ... If I come back from Europe and am barred, can’t play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me.”Young, who is from Canada and became a U.S. citizen in 2020, questions what it means for freedom if he could be kept out of the country for freely sharing his feelings about the current administration.“I love America and its people and its music and its culture,” he writes. “By these latest actions of the US government, it seems that those who speak freely with their own opinions are now vulnerable to non-existent Trump law.”Finally, Young ends his post by paraphrasing the Pledge of Allegiance. “One country, indivisible, with Liberty and Freedom, for all,” he writes. “Remember that? I do.”Young's love earth tour with his band The Chrome Hearts kicks off June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden. It hits the U.S. Aug. 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, wrapping with a show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Sept. 15.Copyright © 2025, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.
